Become a Camp Activity Specialist

As a Mission Camp Creek Activity Specialist, you will be a dynamic and integral part of our team, responsible for designing and implementing engaging and skill-building activities that align with the mission and values of Mission Camp Creek. Your role is to create memorable and impactful experiences for campers by leading specialized activities that foster personal growth, teamwork, and a sense of accomplishment.

The Role:

As a Mission Camp Creek Activity Specialist, you are expected to bring a high level of expertise, enthusiasm, and dedication to your chosen activity area. Your ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment is crucial in contributing to the campers' overall experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and plan specialized activities aligned with Mission Camp Creek's mission, ensuring age-appropriate and enriching experiences.

  • Provide clear and engaging instruction to campers, fostering skill development and a passion for the chosen activity.

  • Safely and responsibly manage all equipment related to your activity area, ensuring proper usage and storage.

  • Oversee campers during activity sessions, ensuring safety and adherence to established guidelines.

  • Work closely with other activity specialists and camp staff to create a cohesive and well-rounded camp program.

  • Foster positive relationships with campers, encouraging participation and skill progression.

  • Effectively communicate with campers, parents, and fellow staff members regarding activity schedules, updates, and any concerns.

  • Ensure compliance with all camp policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety

  • Prepare and implement rainy day plans when necessary

  • Set up equipment and activity area before the start of activity

  • Participation in staff training sessions and staff meetings

  • Other jobs as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18+ years

  • Demonstrated expertise in the specific activity area (e.g., arts and crafts, archery, canoes, nature exploration, etc.).

  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in the specific activity area are a plus.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead a variety of engaging activities for campers of different ages and interests

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with campers, parents, and other staff members

  • Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to respond to emergency situations

  • Physical fitness and ability to participate in camp activities alongside campers

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changes in schedule, program, or weather conditions

  • Creativity and willingness to bring new ideas and approaches to the camp program

  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision

  • Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid and CPR

  • Applicant must complete a background check
