As a Mission Camp Creek Lead Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the camp experience for our attendees. This leadership position involves overseeing a team of counselors, coordinating daily activities, and ensuring a safe and enriching environment for all participants. The Role:

The Mission Camp Creek Lead Counselor is expected to bring enthusiasm and commitment to the camp's mission, creating an environment where campers thrive emotionally, socially, and personally. Your leadership should inspire a sense of community among campers and staff, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere. This role demands flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to a team of counselors, fostering a positive and collaborative camp environment.

  • Plan and organize daily camp activities aligned with Mission Camp Creek's mission, promoting personal growth and community building.

  • Oversee and actively participate in camper activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive atmosphere.

  • Foster positive relationships with campers, encouraging participation and ensuring individual needs are met.

  • Address and resolve behavioral issues with a fair and consistent approach, promoting a respectful and supportive camp culture.

  • Regularly communicate with camp directors and other staff members to provide updates on camp activities, address concerns, and share successes.

  • Be prepared to respond to emergencies and follow established protocols, prioritizing the safety and well-being of campers and staff.

  • Maintain accurate records of camper attendance, incidents, and relevant information for post-camp evaluation.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information regarding campers or staff members.

  • Assist with maintaining the care of camp supplies and equipment, filling out maintenance request forms.

  • Be responsible for the cleanliness of the living unit throughout the week; including but not limited to the bathrooms, restocking necessary supplies, garbage/recycling, and campfire ring.

  • Ensure appropriate behavior, hygiene, attire, and preparation for all camp activities in the cabin, at meals, and around camp for campers.

  • Attend pre-camp staff training and regularly scheduled meetings to ensure open and positive communication.

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid and CPR

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with campers, parents, and other staff members

  • Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to respond to emergencies

  • Physical fitness and ability to participate in camp activities alongside campers

  • Ability to solve problems and change plans when necessary.

  • Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner.

  • Ability to work in a camp setting and appreciate the outdoors.

  • Applicant must complete a background check
